ESPN will present the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony for the 23rd year, live from Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. ET. NFL Live’s Trey Wingo will host the telecast with analyst Herm Edwards and senior NFL Insider Chris Mortensen, the 2016 Dick McCann Award for his “long and distinguished contribution to pro football through coverage.”  In addition, legendary ESPN NFL host Chris Berman will emcee the Enshrinement Ceremony for the 18th year. Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, the NBA legend and current owner of the Charlotte Hornets, was unveiled today as the No. 1 athlete in The Undefeated-SurveyMonkey Poll of the 50 Greatest Black Athletes. ESPN’s multiplatform content initiative on the intersections of sports, race and culture unveiled the top-10 list Tuesday online and on SportsCenter. The top-5 also features: No. 2 Jackie Robinson, No. 3 Muhammad Ali, No. 4 Willie Mays and No. 5 Jesse Owens.

ESPN today announced that it has re-signed senior writer Seth Wickersham to a new extension and hired Joel Anderson and Phil Steele. Each will bring their expertise and experience covering the NFL, college football and basketball, and sports betting, among others. All three journalists will contribute across ESPN linear, digital and radio platforms, just in time for the upcoming football season.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) today announced that it has agreed to acquire majority ownership of BAMTech, LLC and will launch its ESPN-branded multi-sport video streaming service in early 2018, followed by a new Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service in 2019.

ESPN’s fourth annual ESPY Day to benefit the V Foundation raised $5.2 million for cancer research, including $2.6 million that will be directed to the Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund, which encourages cutting-edge research for minority populations suffering from cancer. This year’s fundraising total surpassed last year’s total with an overall 32% increase. To date, ESPY-related fundraising efforts have totaled over $30 million.
