Sweden Women 5 – 0 Portugal Women

Sweden swept aside Portugal to continue their perfect record of reaching the knockout stages at European Championships with a 5-0 win at Leigh Sports Village.

Filippa Angeldal’s first-half double put Sweden, needing only a point to guarantee their qualification, in full control before Carole Costa’s own goal on the stroke of half-time put the result beyond doubt.

Kosovare Asllani’s penalty added their fourth nine minutes into the second period, before Stina Blackstenius put the icing on the cake in added time.

Sweden will now face one of Italy, Belgium or Iceland in the quarter-finals, while Portugal are eliminated without a victory at the tournament.

What’s next?

Sweden will return to Leigh Sports Village to face either Iceland, Belgium or Italy in the third quarter-final on Friday.
