Leicester hooker Tom Youngs has announced his retirement from professional rugby

Former England and British & Irish Lions hooker Tom Youngs has announced his retirement from professional rugby.

The 35-year-old forward, whose retirement is effective immediately, has been part of Leicester Tigers’ squad this season, but has not featured in any competitive games this term after taking indefinite leave for personal reasons before the start of the campaign.

Youngs ends his career with 215 appearances for Leicester, along with 28 Test caps for England and three appearances for the Lions.
