The story is told through the eyes of a 14 year old boy named Ponyboy Curtis who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks with his two brothers Darrell and Sodapop. The story takes place over a two week period that would forever change and shape his life. The novel is set in the 1960amp;rsquo;s in Oklahoma during a time when the two major socioeconomic classes for Ponyboyamp;rsquo;s peers were the wealthy Socamp;rsquo;s and the Greasers. This book is my favorite coming of age book and I read it several times while growing up. It deals with the changes and emotions one goes through during adolescence. Personal identity, heroism, peer pressure, innocence, family and belonging are all key issues that the characters of the Outsiders experience in this novel.
